Abstract
The winter gray whale occupation of Laguna San Ignacio (LSI) and Bahía Magdalena (BM) in 2019 was characterized by: delayed arrival of the whales to the lagoon; low numbers of calvesof-the-year; an increased percentage (26.3%) of "skinny" adult whales; and cooler than average water temperatures compared to the previous seven winters. Decreasing prey resources on the summer feeding grounds are possible contributors to the delayed migration, low calf counts, and
"poor" body condition.
