Bycatch Mitigation Initiative Progress Report and draft workplan 2021-2024

The IWC’s Bycatch Mitigation Initiative has been working to progress the activities within its current, two-year workplan (2018-2020) and is also developing a new, four-year workplan (2021-2024) for submission to the Conservation Committee at IWC 68. This paper provides a brief update on the main progress made during 2019-2020 and provides an annexed, detailed progress report for the current workplan period (2018-2020). Some specific questions for consideration by the Scientific Committee are provided. The paper also identifies some suggested activities in the draft 2021-2024 workplan of relevance to the Scientific Committee, and requests input and comment from the Committee on these activities and the Committee’s role, in particular.
