The Lahille’s bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus gephyreus) is endemic to the Southwestern Atlantic Ocean (SWA), with a restricted and fragmented coastal distribution ranging from southern Brazil to Central Argentina. Two Evolutionarily Significant Units (ESUs) are recognized: one comprising bottlenose dolphins from Central Argentina and a second ranging from southern Brazil to Uruguay, comprised by at least five Management Units (MU) (Figure 1).
