Abstract

The objectives of this CMP are to i) enhance global cooperation to assess and monitor the population trends and health of the Guiana dolphin, ii) develop sustainable solutions to mitigate various threats to the species and its habitat based on the Ocean Decade Challenges, iii) work towards reducing habitat degradation, and iv) align international initiatives (e.g. IUCN, IWC, CMS) with national action plans to strengthen efforts for ensuring the viability of the Guiana dolphin population in the future. The governments of Brazil, France, and PanamĀ  agreed to develop a CMP for Guiana dolphins.
