Abstract

The CMS Secretariat also on behalf of the ASCOBANS and ACCOBAMS Secretariats, developed guidelines for Environmental Impact Assessment for noise-generating offshore industries, providing a clear pathway to implementing the Best Available Techniques (BAT) and Best Environmental Practice (BEP). These Guidelines were endorsed through CMS Resolution 12.14 on Adverse Impacts of Anthropogenic Noise on Cetaceans and Other Migratory Species, and are provided together with Technical Support Information written in a policy-maker friendly way.
