Authors Summary

The four recommendations made by the Scientific Committee related to North Atlantic fin whale trials have been addressed: (a) incorporate the SLA into the control program to set the aboriginal catch in West Greenland; (b) revise the control program to be able to run it using different compilers; (c) consider how stochastic mixing can be incorporated to mimic fluctuations in abundance in the West Greenland sub-area; and (d) replicate the most recent methods to run the trials. A new version of the control program is available at the Secretariat. This paper focuses on the changes to the operating model used to implement stochastic mixing in the western part of the distribution (the East Canada and West Greenland sub-areas)
