Abstract

A multi-area multi-stock model for the North Pacific humpback whales is applied to the data for the B1F2 stock hypothesis and the medium catch series. The model is revised compared to that presented last year by better accounting for feeding ground fidelity. The fits are generally adequate but there is an inability to mimic the change over time in the estimates of abundance for the OR-CA feeding ground and there is an inconsistency between some of the mixing proportions from the genetics and mark-recapture data.
