Happywhale ? Status of Data Collections with emphasis on Photo Identification of Humpback Whales (Megaptera novaeangliae)

We present a brief review of current data collections available in the research collaboration and citizen science web platform Happywhale.com, to complement the For Info paper Cheeseman et al (in press), with particular emphasis on humpback whale fluke photo-ID. The collection expanded substantially in the last two years since implementation of fast, accurate automated image recognition of humpback fluke photo-ID, with IDs for 47,122 individuals globally. 77% of data is from the North Pacific Ocean, capturing over 60% of the living population.
